5K for FA
5K for FA: race description
Help us raise money for the Fanconi Anemia Research Fund in honor of Eli Lana, of Hilton, NY.
About the 5K for FA Cross Country Race
The course is a beautifully maintained cross country trail through open and wooded areas of Parma Town Park. It's moderately challenging with lots of hills. This is NOT a road race. Whether you're walking or running, you'll enjoy the picturesque surroundings and you'll want to come back!
USATF Sanctioned Event.
About Fanconi Anemia
Fanconi anemia is an inherited disease that can lead to bone marrow failure and cancer. Though considered primarily a blood disease, FA may affect all systems of the body. It is a complex and chronic disorder that is psychologically demanding. FA is also a cancer-prone disease, affecting patients decades earlier than the general population.
But don't let that get you down! Eli has had a successful bone marrow transplant and is good health. He is followed by a team of expert doctors and with your help, more research will be done to make sure he stays health for decades.
Our 5K for FA is a fun family event with the 5K race starting at 10am, and the walk portion starting immediately following. Kids' Fun Run will start at approx. 9:15.
Not Just a 5K
We want people to come and have a great time! Of course there will be water and lots of snacks for the participants. But we also have music, face painting, bounce house, kid and adult Zumba warm ups, a bounce house for the young ones, and a food cart on site for food purchase before and after race. And prizes!
Participants are humbly requested (not required) to become fundraisers and raise $100 or more.
Prizes will be awarded for the top fund raisers and best top times. We will also have a bib number raffle so everyone has a chance to win, and we'll be selling 50/50 raffle tickets.
