Zydeco Marathon: race description
Zydeco Marathon &, 1/2 is a full and half marathon running event held in Lafayette, Louisiana. Lafayette is world reknown for our rich heritage, awesome cajun food, and, of course, Zydeco music.
Zydeco Marathon combines a fun, safe, and memorable run with our Finish Line Festival, bringing all that Lafayette is known for straight to you after your run. Zydeco Marathon &, 1/2 is a USATF sanctioned event on a certified course.
We are a Boston Qualifier.
LATE REGISTRATION – The only paper registration will be at packet pickup at the expo on the day before the race.
DEADLINE– Packet pickup is the last chance for registration. We will close packet pickup at 5pm. There will be no registration on the day of the race. We will, however, have late packet pickup.
CONFIRMATION– there will be confirmation support through the RunSignUp website once registration has started.
DEFERRAL POLICY– There will be a $25 fee to defer registration to the next years race. Deadline for deferral is January 31, 2017 at midnight. Once deferred, the registrant is ineligible for the following years early registration promos, and the items (Shirt, Bib etc) from the deferred years race are forfeited. Registrants may only defer one consecutive year.
UPGRADE from the Half Marathon to the Full Marathon – There will be a $30 fee to upgrade from the Half Marathon to the Full Marathon to make up for the cost difference between the two distances. The deadline to upgrade is March 6, 2017.
DOWNGRADE for the Full Marathon to the Half Marathon – There are no fees incurred or refunds given to downgrade from the Full Marathon to the Half Marathon. The deadline to downgrade is March 6, 2017.
Age Requirements- On the day of the race participants must meet the minimum age requirements. Half Marathon Participants must be at least 13 years old on the day of the race to participate. Full Marathon participants must be at least 16 years old on race day to participate
Refunds- Entry fees are non-refundable and non-transferable. No exceptions. Once we receive and accept your entry, you will not receive a refund if you cannot participate, you may not give or sell your race number to anyone else, and you may not transfer your entry fee to future races.
Readiness- You must be in good health and physically prepared to take on the challenge of a Marathon or Half Marathon.
Identification- You must show photo ID to receive your race number and timing chip.You must pick up your own race packet and race number.
Packet Pickup- Packet pick up will be at the expo , the day prior to the race, 10am to 5pm. Also, the day of the race starting at 5:30 am. The expo will be held at the Cajundome Convention Center located at 444 Cajundome Blvd, Lafayette, LA 70506
Race Numbers- Race numbers are required to participate.
Effort- The effort must be your own. No coaches, handcycles, bikes, in-line skates, skateboards, baby joggers or dogs will be allowed on the course.
Scenic Course- the route that will be selected will cover some of the best of Lafayette.
Route Motivation- Cheering locals lining the course for plentiful Course Support
Race shirt- Participant Shirt &, Swag Bag. Shirts for registrations after 2/1/2017, will be based on availability.
Medal- Finishers receive a medal as they cross the finish line.
Finish line festival- Finish line festival featuring the best live music in our area!
Expo- Running exposition the day prior of the event located at Cajundome Convention Center at 444 Cajundome Blvd, Lafayette, LA 70506.
This is a secure, sectioned off area, located immediately after the finish line where runners get their photo taken &, recieve their medals
