Old Jo&#39,s Firecracker 5K: race description

The race started as a “,fun run”, in 2007 in conjunction with the 4th of July Celebration in Saint Jo, Texas. Originally run on a gravel road to historic Katy Lake and beside the city's Boggess Park, the race as grown to a certified 5K course on mostly paved streets through historic downtown Saint Jo with an added taste of pure country road.

All proceeds from the 5K Race stay in Saint Jo and benefit Easy Street Animal Shelter, a “,no kill”, rescue and shelter for homeless or abandoned domestic animals, and the Saint Jo Chamber of Commerce's 4th of July Celebration and Santa on the Square –, among other activities for the town.

Participants begin on Main Street around the Chisholm Trail Square and move on to Williams Street. Turning left on Williams to Line Street, the course rounds Line and merges with FM 677. Continuing toward for approximately 2K on 677 to the turn-around point, then back to Howell Street where it turns right. The finish line is approximately 3 blocks ahead, returning back to the Square and a host of well-wishers.

Walkers are welcome, as well as strollers. Sorry, no 4 leggers allowed on this course. Runners will be queued before walkers.
