Good afternoon.

I want to ask two questions.

I train according to the 80/20 rule and have a plan which I follow to do 5 trainings a week.

  1. Sometimes there is no opportuninty to train. What to do? How can I compensate for missed trainings? After all, I can miss training of different types (interval/short training/long training etc.).
  2. And the second question: sometimes I don't have enough time to recover after the previous training and my body refuses to train according the planned load.

What to do in these cases: follow the training plan at any cost, replace scheduled training by short recovery run or give my body a rest?

Good afternoon.

  1. I always say that a training plan is not a mortgage repayment schedule. That's why if you miss a training session - if you are late with payment - you shouldn't try to compensate this kind of "debt". It doesn't work like that. There is nothing wrong if you miss a training, just keep follow the training plan or correct it taking a rest and trainings (load) schedule into consideration.
  2. Listen to your body!!! It's only your body who can tell whether you (or your coach) are right or you made a mistake in the training plan. Never try to train if it you really can't. I do not take into account a kind of laziness at the beginning of training or a short-term fatigue. I say about a deep fatigue.  You should learn to distinguish between these two concepts. If you do not feel better during training, but rather the opposite, feel free to stop the training or it may become the reason of your regression. You'll probably need a full rest or minimal activity to be toned again.
