Hot Chocolate Run &, SPCA Doggie Dash: race description

Back by popular demand, its time to greet the New Year with with a big mug of hot chocolate! Whether you're up for the Big Mug 5K or just the Little Cup 1 Mile you, your family, and friends will enjoy chasing away the New Year chill with a hot cup of chocolaty delight. We're doing something new this year to let more runners join in the fun! You'll get to choose between a 9 AM or 11 AM race. Whichever you choose, all finishers not only get a beverage to warm their hands but also get to take home a beautiful ceramic mug to fill over and over to keep you warm until Spring arrives. As always, there's a new mug for returning runners!


Invite your friends, pick your race, and start craving hot chocolate!

Fit &, Able loves family fitness and whose four-legged furry friend isn't part of the family? Dog owners are welcome to run with their pups in any Hot Chocolate Run race! For only $5 per pup it will be happy trails for both runners and their dogs. AND, the full $5 goes to support the Wake County SPCA! Only one dog per registered runner and you must register your dog for them to run with you. The race will be more fun with the whole family there and you'll be supporting a great organization in our community!

Information

Race Location: WakeMed Soccer Park (201 Soccer Park Dr., Cary, NC 27511).


Course Information: The course is on WakeMed's paved and natural trails with one road crossing and moderate to big hills. Course conditions depend on the weather prior to the event. COURSE MAPS COMING SOON!


Events: Everyone is welcome to participate! All participants will have chip-timed results that will be posted online. All Fit &, Able Productions, Inc. events are inclusion events: anyone of any age, skill-level, or ability can participate in any race!


Athletic Trainer: An athletic trainer will be available at a medical tent located near the finish line.


Water Stations: There will be two water stations on the course: one at the 1 Mile mark and Finish line and one just after the 2 Mile mark. Water is also available at the registration and refreshment area. The water stations are marked on the map.


Packet Pick-up: All participants must show a photo ID or be with a guardian with a photo ID in order to pick up their race packets and can only pick up their own race packet. All dogs and young kids in strollers must be registered and numbered in order to participate with their owners and parents.


Race Souvenirs: Mugs come in red, green, and blue. Like the mug and want another? No problem! You can reserve an additional 11 oz. race mug for $10, 14 oz. 2 Year mug for $12, and a performance long-sleeve shirt for $20. Participants will get their mugs at the refreshment table after the race and will be able to pick their favorite color based on availability (first come, first serve while supplies last!).

Online registration closes on January 2nd at 9 PM. Cash, checks, and credit cards are accepted at packet pick-up and race day.

Doggie Dash: $5 per dog (only one dog per registered participant!)
* Dogs may only participate in the 11 AM 5K and in the 1 Mile and the entire Doggie Dash registration fee goes to support the Wake County SPCA!

Fit &, Able Productions is a nonprofit organization that has been supporting community and family fitness in Cary since 1997 through organizing creative events and training programs. We also support many programs, such as swim safety lessons for underprivileged children and adults, youth fitness programs, and health education run by our community partners including the Cary Family YMCA, Triangle Aquatic Center, and Town of Cary. Proceeds from our events that aren't designated to support other organizations go to support the event and other Fit &, Able nonprofit activities.
