Wild Turkey 5-miler: race description
Landenberg's first and only Thanksgiving race
“,A Small Town Gem!”, -Small Town Gazette Press Fictional Quote
“,If I could be a race, I'd be the Wild Turkey.”, -Overheard in group conversation after last year's event
“,This is a great tradition!”, -Actually stated to the RD from a neighbor
It's that time of the year again, crisp air, sweaters, college football, and the beginning of holiday eat-a-thon gatherings. Well kick off your Thanksgiving with a calorie deficit with the 6th the Wild Turkey 5-miler at Somerset Lake.
A new course this year but still just 5-miles. The course will be well marked, will begin and finish near the clubhouse, and there will be at least one aid station on the course with water and alternative beverage?!
This year the Wild Turkey is collecting non-perishable items for the Kennett Food Cupboard/Kennett Area Community Service (http://www.kacsonline.net/). The challenge is for participants to fill the bed of the pick-up truck that will be there race morning with bags of groceries. Items in highest need are: Cereals, Peanut Butter, Canned Vegetables (particularly beans and tomatoes), and personal care items like toothbrushes, toothpaste, etc.

Great Post-race party: We know how busy this morning is (which is why it's a 7:30 start!) so as soon as the last person finishes (usually around 8:30) we celebrate! All of the awards are given out along with the Grandma's Lost-Potatoes prizes (part of the tradition!) . There will be water, beer and light fare to enjoy.
