Teal Ribbon Run: race description

Let us come together as a community to run in unity to stop the violence! The Teal Ribbon Run will be an event that the community can participate in to show support for survivors of sexual assault. April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month. For many sexual assault survivors, April is a month of hope. Women's Resouce Center is a nonprofit agency serving individuals who are victims and survivors of domestic violence in Lackawanna and Susquehanna Counties. Last year, over 1,710 individuals were served by Women's Resource Center, 297 of which involved crimes of sexual assault. The Women's Resouce Center's mission is to end domestic and sexual violence through advocacy, education, and social change.

Women's Resouce Center provides free services, which are confidential, and has a 24 hour crisis hotline. Other services provided by Women's Resource Center are crisis counseling, accompaniment, support groups, advocacy, educational programs, teen program, and economic advocacy programs.

Proceeds and monetary donations from the Teal Ribbon 5k/1 mile walk will go to Women's Resource Center to help fund sexual assault services.
