Dogwood Classic 5K Run/Walk: race description
New Location and Course for 2016!
Date, Time, and Place: Saturday, April 30, 2016 at 8:00 am on Cherokee Boulevard.
Course Description and Highlights: Loop course on Cherokee Boulevard beginning at ending at the middle parking lot. Maps and course details coming soon.
Registration &, Entry Fee (NO REFUNDS OR TRANSFERS): Race day registration available in the race tent from 6:30&mdash,7:45 am.
T-shirts: Short-sleeved t-shirts for registrants. Pre-registered runners will receive them on race day. Late and race day registrants will receive them while supplies last or at a later date.
Awards: Awards to the Top 3 Overall, top Masters (40+), top Grandmasters (50+), and Senior Grandmasters (60+) Male and Females. Awards to the top 3 Clydesdale (Male = 200 lbs. +) and Athena (Female = 150 lbs. +). In addition, the top 3 male and female first time racers will receive awards. Age division awards will run three deep as well. Overall winners not eligible for age division awards. Awards are based on gun time and not chip time per USATF regulations.
Grand Prix Points and Team Competition: The Dogwood Classic is on the 2016 Team Competition schedule. 2016 Grand Prix Points awarded for overall, masters, grandmasters, senior grandmasters, clydesdale, athena, and age group categories. Grand Prix point are awarded to winners in these categories and points accumulate throughout the year. KTC recognizes the top 10 men and women in the Grand Prix series at the New Year&rsquo,s Day 5K on January 1, 2017. Remember, to be eligible for Grand Prix Points, participants must be a member of KTC and must volunteer for at least 3 KTC races throughout the year.
Post Race Refreshments: Assorted refreshments will be provided post race in the event tent.
Race Etiquette: Due to insurance regulations, roller blades, strollers, bicycles, and dogs are not allowed on the course. The 5K course closes in 1 hour and 15 minutes. KTC discourages the use of headphones at events.
